BRITAIN'S NATIONAL SHIPYARDS
ADVISORY COMMITTEE RESIGNS AS A PROTEST. London, November 23. The "Daily Telegraph" states that the Advisory Shipbuilding Committee has resigned, as a protest against the present policy- regarding shipbuilding. The committee deprecates the creation of nationl shipyards at Chepstowo. Blackloy, and Portsway, on the ground that these places aro not suited for tho purpose, wnilo in the meantime the existing shipyards, which could provide scores more ships, are short of labour and material.—Aus.-N.Z. FRESH TROUBLE WITH THE
RAILWAYMEN
COMPANIES' OFFER REFUSED.
London, November 23, Tho National Conference of Railwaymen has refused the companies' offer of ss. advance, making a war increase of £1 weekly. Tho men ask for an extra 10s. Tho decision is a victory for tho extremists.
Mr. J. H. Thomas (Secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants) states that the situation is serious, but there must be no stoppage of railways.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Acsn.
