Y.W.C.A. Notes.

The service at the Young Women's Christian Association to-morrow afternoon at 4.15 will be conducted by the Rev. E. Drake. Lastl Sunday a large gathering of girls appreciated the message given by tile Rov. B. Hutson, and Several strangers were welcomed at the tea following the meeting. Up to tho present time the arrangements for Saturday evenings at the Y.W.O.A. Olubrooms have been of a varied character, bub at the last meeting of the Board of Directors it was decided to extend the social side of the work. The third Saturday in the month has been growing in popularity as 1 a soldiers' evening, and from December 1 the Y.W.C.A. Clubrboms will bo thrown 1 open for entertainment among the members and their \ men frienas, especially soldiers. Original and attractive programmes will be arranged, and all are promised a happy time. Last Saturday evening the items were drawn up by the "Bluebirds" under the'direction of Miss Dix.

Austin] M.A., a member of the National Board and National Foreign Department of the Y.W.C.A., who has been General secretary in Sydney this year, has resigned, owing to her husband's call to the ministry in Queensland. , Wellington Red Gross Shop. Next Tuesday wilL bo a big day, as tho Catholic Knitting Guild will have chargo and will Btock the shop. Tho members of this guild have had several most successful days in tho year, and the one next Tuesday promises to bo just such another. There will be produce of every kind, good and wholesome, and for those who have only the modest shilling there will be the chance in many beautiful rafflee. Tho autograph flag will bo another attraction, and already this has been the meana of bringing in a large sum, and there is still room for more names. From Mr. Moeller, in Napier, las come a novelty in tho way of a cake; it is in the form of an open book, on which is inscribed: "Help our Boys at the Front, who are Fighting for Us," in chocolate and gold letters. All friends aro asked to visit the shop and reward the efforts of the women of the Catholio Knitting Guild.

A meeting of the Society for the Protection of Women and Children was held yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Chapman pi-esideu. There wcro present: Mesdamos A. Hoby, J. Salmond, W. A. Evans, M.A., W. F. Ward, Griffiths, and J. Kirkcaldie. A largo number of cases which had been investigated wero reported upon, and others were being attended to. Miss Rothenberg, lion, librarian of tho Soldiers' Club, wishes to thank all those who so promptly Bent hooks and magazines for tjhe uso of the soldiers. Through the generous response, Miss Rotlionberg was enabled to pack and dispatch quite a largo amount of interesting reading matter.
