Wo have secured a footing on the Makondo Plateau (in tho south-eastern angle of the colony). Heavy firing is procscdiiig on tho south-western edge of the Makoixlc Platean. Three hundred Askans surrendered at Ndanda, where tho Germans abandoned a big field hospital. Numbers of Askaris have deserted to ua. J" e northern theatre is now clear of the enenvy."-Ans.-N.Z. An official report from East Africa states: "Tho enemy's rearguards have been expelled from defensive positions eastward and south-east of Chnvata.
