A correspondent writes:—"There is a paragraph "in your shipping news of Thursday which states that German insurance companies are operating in New York and thus gain very intimate knowledge of the movemonts of vessels. This is incorrcct, for on July 14 laßt President Wilson issued a. proclamation which prohibits all such operations by or with German or other enemy companies, firms, or individuals, whether by way of direct business or reinsurance."
