SOLDIERS' GIFT FUND
SCOTTISH SOCIETY TO HELP,
At a mooting of the members of the Scottish Society at tho Town Hall on Saturday evening it was unanimously deoided to make a big effort t<> holp tho amateur sports bodies in their onorts to raise money for the Mayoress s Soldiers' Gifts Fund. -The meeting was well attended, and Chief A. Campbell Pl On d St. Andrew's Day (a Friday) two" dozen pipers, drawn from various parts of New Zealand, will pipe through the principal streets of the city. Wherever stalls are pitched in the streets the pipers will play, and dancers will perform on platforms erected -on motor-; lorries. On the Saturday the pipers will "skirl the town." They,will march to the Basin Eeserve, where a sports meeting has-boon arranged: At the Reserve they will take part in the proceedings. Numerous motor-cars have been promised for the day, and sufficient lorries for N tha dancing. For the Saturday illuminated and decorated lorries have Deen promised A number _of prizes have been allotted for dancing, and piping competitions which will be arranged.
