LYALL BAY NOTES

PATRIOTIC TREASURE HUNT APPROVED.

At the meeting of the City Council last evening the following committee recommendations were approved:— "That tho application of the Citizens' Christmas Gift Fund, for permission for the Lyall Bay Surf Club to conduct a treasure hunt on the Lyall Bay beach on Saturday next, be granted, and that the following additional requests be acceded to, viz.:—(l) Permission to enclose a portion of the beach and charge an admission foe of one shilling; (2) permission to conduct side-shows; (3) the services of the caretaker in carrying out the proposal. "That tenders be callfd for the election of the proposed pavilion for the hire of bathing costumes, towels, etc.. on the Lyall Bay beach, the provision for finances having been made on this year's Estimates." "That they have received from tho Lyall Bay Surf Club a list of attendance of" members on the Lyall Bay beach during tho swimming season of 1916-17. Tho committee have to recommend that the council express to the club their pleasure at the excellent record 6hown by Hie list of attendance, and their appreciation of the great service which the members have given to the community in general and particularly in the intoreßts of the safoty of frequenters of the beach."
