TE ANAU-MILFORD TRACK
TO BE OPENED ON DECEMBER 3.
Owtngj (o a request from the people of Otago the Governments decided to open the Te Anau-Milford track-"the finest scenic walk in the world"—on December 3. It had previously decided thai, owinp tq the heavy outlay, the track should not be opened up this season, but the insistency of the southern community has been sucessful, and at the present time a staff is being pot together to manage ther accommodation house at the lake, and the huts along the track cach of which requires the attention of a maTried couple. The openipj of the track means the employment.of about a dozen people altogether, so that the outlay is considerable. It is, however, anticipated in the south that at a time like the present, when travel beyond New Zealand is greatly restricted (o many people during the holiday season, this magnificent mountain: parade will attract visitors from all parts of the country The booking at the Hermitage (Mount Cook) is said to be very good, and the vicinity of our highest peak should he iairly well populated during the holiday season.
