FIFTY YEARS' SERVICE

MB. JAMES AMES CONGRATULATED

In noting ths completion by Mr. Joseph Ames (City Valuer) of fifty years service in the corporation's employ, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Lnke) at the council meeting Inst evening said that no council in New Zealand had a more zealous and faithful officer than Mr. Amps. During the long period of his service he had merited and earned Hie approbation not only of the Mayors and councils under whom he had served, but also the confidence of the public with whom ,lia had to deal. Even those property-owners who had felt a little aggrieved at the valuations placed upon their land had never questioned the City Valuer a fairness. 'Ho begged to move:-

That the council tender their heartiest congratulations to the City Valuer. Mr. James Ames, upon his completion this day of fifty years of service with the municipality of Wellington, during which lengthy period he has retained the absolute confidence of the council and citizens, and his work has always been distinguished by sincerest loyalty to duty."
