ALIEN QUESTION DISCUSSED,
A meeting of the National Executive j of the Second Division League wos held j last evening, Mr. F. H. \N<fll° n P™" | siding. There was a full attendance, including representatives from Seatonil, Lyall Bay, Ngaio, and Johnsonvillo Mr C H. Chapman reported that 1200 '•Handbooks of Advico to Reservists had been posted to those mombcrs of the beoond Division who were drawn in the last ballot in Wellington, Wairarapa Manawa.tu, and Wanganui recruiting districts. A large number of applications had been received for the handbook and it would be necessary to reprint it. It was decided to make a small charge for the handbook, except to those drawn in the, The'following resolution was carried, and the secretary was instructed to. torward it to the Prime Minftter, Minister of Finance, Minister, of Defence, and Minister of Justice: "That thei Government's attention be drawn to the question of allied aliens, naturalised and nnnaturalised. who,- being eligible for service in their own country are escaping all military service and liability, and are snizing the businesses and occupationfi ot New Zealanders called up for service. \ committee was appointed to investigate certain matters in this connection which had been brought to the notico of the league. , , , \ new branch was reported to nav» Ven formed nt Rahotn, and the various Wellington leagues reported gratifying increases of membership.
