SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SONS OF SOLDIERS

At a meeting of tho Executive of the Canterbury Patriotic Fund to-day an application for a financial grant towards the setting up of scholarships for soldiers' eons, to be known as lrentham .Scholarships, was rejected, a motion being carried that no further action should bo taken in the matter. Mr. Dougall expressed the opinion that there was no necessity to centralise such a scheme in AVellington, and reminded the meeting that Canterbury College and other educational institutions irfre already making provision for such scholarships. , ~ It was decided to refer to the committee the question of subsidising the Canterbury College scheme of scholarships.
