Messrs. Dalgety and Co. report:—At our Wanganui yardß on November 7 we had a very lioavy yarding of cattle and a medium one of sheep. Unfortunately, tho day was one of the most boisterous that Wanganui has experienced for some years which prevented the attendance of a proportion of buyers. Competition for forward bullocks was fairly good, but medium-conditioned three-year-old and the younger sorts were, inclined to bo neglected.'Sheep sold at late rates. Quotations: Medium woolly, hoggets, 325. 6d.; forward Bhorn four-tooth wethers, 325. 4d.; shorn empty ewes, 235.; forward four and fivo-year-old bullooki, £18, £18, £39 Ss.j /jooddonditloned three-year bullocks, £15; twoyear S.H. heifers, £8; yearling B.H, heiferst £6 7s. 6d.; fat oows, £13 3s. At Waverley, on November 9, we had a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle, which mot with a fair reception at the hands of the usual attendance of buyers. We quote:— Fat cows, £11. £11 145., £12 Bs.; forward cows, £9 4«„ £10, £10 lis.; empty two-year heifers, £8; yearling heifers, £4 19s. to £6 ■lis.; 6.H. bulls, 15 to 2()gns.j Jersey bulls, £7 to £8. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their weekly stock sale at the Millers Eoad yards, Bannevirke, on November 9. There was a good yarding of both cattle and sheep, but the prices wero slightly easy, although everything we had soldunder the hammer. Quotations;— Cattle: Fat cows, from £9 17b. 6d. to £11 10s.; empty cows in forward condition, from £9 15s. to £10 12s. 6d.;' springing cows, from £11 to £12 6b.; springing heifers, from £7 ss. to £7 12a. 6d. Sheep: Ewes and lambs, 38s, 3d.; empty cull ewes, 18s. Bd.; hoggets, small, lis. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report that at their Pahautanul oattle fair they submitted a large yarding of oattle aa.d medium entry of sheep, and sold practically the whole of their, entry. The bidding on young stook was animated, but for older cattle was dragging. The following prices were realised Shorn four-tooth wethers (medium), 295. 6d. to Ms.; three and four-year bullocks, £14; two to three-year steers, £12; mixed two-year steer?, £10 7s. 6d.; Shorthorn yearling steers (good), £11; twoyear steers, £9 15s. to £10 95.; medium steers, £8 Is. to £9 35.; yearling steers, £7 12b.; yearline bulls, £7 65., £7 10s., to £9; two-year Shorthorn bull, £17; aged bull, £15 17s. 6d.; fat and forward oows, £11 45., £12, to £12 2s. 6d. ; cood-condition store cows, £9 2s. 6d. to £9 45.; cows with calves, £9 145.; yearling heifers, £4 16s. to £6 10e.: mixed-colour weaners, £2 ss. to £2 lis.; vealers (small).' £1 18s. to £2s. lis. Messrs. Abraham and Williams report:— At Palmerston North on November 8 we had a rather moderate yarding of stock, winch sold at the following rates:—Aged evTSs and lambs, 335. Id. to 355.: forward ewes and wethers, 31s. Id. to 335.; store owes, 27b. : fat hoggets. 295.; fat cowb, £13 55.; dairy cows, £8 10s. to £13 2s. 6d.; springing heifers, £8 to £10 10s.; heifers in milk, £7 10s. to £8 155.; yearling steerß, £3 4s. to £8 lis.; 2-year heifers, £9; mixed yearlinßS, £5 18s.; small yearling heifers, £4 Is.; 2-year bulls, £11 10s.; yearling bulls, £6 17s. to £8 15s!
At Feilding on November 9 we had good yarding of both sheep and cattl
including several lines of breeding cows and heifers, which sold at advantage. Sheep on the whole were rather dull, .but moßt lines oßered changed hands. Shorthorn breeding cows (ordinary quality) brought £10 ss. to £11 12a. 6d.; 2-year Shorthorn heifers, £11 17s. 6d. to £12 65.; forward cows, £10 to £11 12s. 6d.; store cows, £7 to £8 155.; 2 and 3-year bulls, £11 15s, to £19 195.; yearling bulls, £6 7s. fid. to £13 10s.; small yearling steers, £6 3s. 6d.; yearling heifors, £4 18s. 6d. to £5 10s.; small ditto, £4 to £4 125.; cull ditto, £2 12s. 6d. to £3 lis.;, shorn fat wethers, 345. 6d.; fat' Bhorn owes, 325. 9d. to 335. 6d.; fat woolly ewes, £2 lis.; ewes and lambs, £2 3s. 9d.; shorn store ewes, 265. 9d.; fair mixed hoggetß, 335.; medium ditto, 295. to 30s. 6d.; small ditto, 255. to 275.-3d.; cull ditto, 19s. to 20s.
