Dalgety and Co., Limited, report having held the opening salo of tho season at their Pahautanui yards on Friday, when a largo entry of cattle and a small yarding of sheep were oflored before a good attendance of local and outside buyers. Competition was keen and the following prices were realised:—2 aud 4-tooth shorn storo wethers, 245. 6d. 4o 28s. 6d.; yearling steers, £5 4s. to £7 25.; lj-year steers to £8; empty store cows to £7; yearling heifers to £5 12s. fid.; Bpringing heifers to £10. A line of 35 to 4-year bullocks, on account of Mr. Ward Pcarce, realised £15 ss. Mjasis. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report:—We had a stock sale at Pahautapui on November 9, when our yards wero well filled with cattle of a useful class. Bidding was fairly brisk and the major portion of our yarding changed hands at priccs which were mostly in favour of tile vendors. A line of 4-year Shorthorn bullocks sold on account of Mr, J. Walker brought £17; others (rather bad colours), £15 ss. On account of other vendors :-Grown steers, £16 55.; forward cows, £10 10s. to £12 18s. 6d.; dairy cows in milk uow conditioned), £7 10s. to £9; store heifers, £7 55.; small springing heifers, £7 15b. to £8 15sl; 15-montli steers £10 ss; small yearling steers, £6: small yearling heifers, £5 58.; weaners, £2.
