' Obituary—Harry /frott, the cricketer. fTrott' was ono of Australia's great allround cricketers—a safe bat, an effective bowler, and a smart field at point. He visited England in the late P. S. M'Donnell's Australian team of 1888, and was also a member of the 1890, 1893, and 1896 combinations, captaining the last eleven. His highest score in England was 186 against Cambridge University Past and Present in 1890, while in batting he averaged as follows: 1888 and 1890, 19 runs per innings; 1893, 25 runs per tunings; 1896, 26 per innings. Jones's eleven in Australia, when in two innings lie scored 30 and 4. His batting was good all-' round, and he was both cautions and punishing as the exigencies of the case required. In bowling he was slow to medium pace, commanding plenty of twist and a decided break. Fis finest bowling feat in England was four for 18 on a Kid wicket at Wembley Park. In 1895 he made 152 for his State (Victoria) against' South Australia, and 100 against Stoddart's 1897-8 eleven.]
