Cuninerham, for many years well known in Wellington -as an auctioneer in partnership with the late Mr. R. T. Badhani, died suddenly at the Hotel Windsor, Wellington, on Thursday. Mr. Cunningham, who was unmarried, was born in Cullybachy, County Antrim, Ireland, 69 years ago. and came <0 New Zealand in 1856. For some years lie lived on the West Const, and later was with the firm of Hudson and Co., Dunedin.' He was then managing the Farmers' Co-operative Association in jhinedin, after which he was for tweiitytwo years with- Greig and_ Company, coffee merchants, of Dunedin. When he came to Wellington ho was most successful in the auctioneering business, and retired a few years ago. He was well known all over New Zealand, and was noted for his geniality and kindness.' He Was a writer of verse, and his nome do plume, "Comet," is favourably known in literary circles. Mr. Cuningliam also ■' took a keen interest in musical matters. His only surviving brother is Mr. W. C. Cuningliam, of Teilding, and his nephew is Mr. J. E. Cuningliam, solicitor, of Christcliurch.' Mr. A. E. Brockett,- if.A., of Nelson College, formerly a senior cricketer in Wellington, has been appointed to the staff of Christchurch Technical College as asistant-master of the day school and Rssistant-superintendent of the evening classes. He was born -in Ayrshire, Scotland, in 1832, and 'came out in-the Crysollite in-the year 1862 to New Zealand. An old resident of Tauranga, Mr. William Jordan, died last week, aged 7-1 years.'
