"I trust," lie says, "the article Will arouse trailers from their lethargy and prevent the loss of the enormous trade which is now slipping away to Australia. What applies to Samoa applies equally to Fiji, for many years Australia lias been scooping the pool hero and Is still doing so. 11 New Zealand merchants were to send their representatives they would bfe amply rewarded. There are magnificent opportunities for the establishment of factories to deal with the following:— Canned fruits ami bottled syrups, biscuits and confectionery, soap and candles, coconut oil and fibre, .and canned meats, lu the capital, Suva, there are splendid opportunities for progressive business men. An up-to-date butchery is an urgent necessity, anil would prove a splendid investment. There is room, too, for a chemist's business, and a hairdresser's also. The establishment of a foundry is also much desired." The writer concludes: "The climate is no hardship to any man—it is enjoyable and healthful."
