CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

A request was received from the Overseas Shipping Committee that tho Chamber should druft a form of indemnity that would render unnecessary the double Bliunp duty payable ou forms at present in use. A. suitable form was placed beforo tho council. It had already bcou submitted to the Deputy Commissioner of Stumps, who had stated that, it. would require one. stamp, only.

A sub-continitteo was sot up to inquire regarding tho relations of tho 6hips, tlio Hiirbtwr Board and consignees, with respect to damaged cases, requiring examination to poo if they had 'been pillaged. It was stilted that difficulties had arisen as to the liability of carters. Tlio council dealt with other routine business.
