PURCHASE ON HOOKS ADVOCATED. By Telegraph—Preßs Association. Hawera,' November 3. This morning the committee of tho Taranaki Provincial Execntivo of the Farmers' Union mot a number of gentlemen interested in the frozen meat trade, when tho following resolutions were carried:— "That tho Government bo requested to arrange with the Imperial Government for «11 meat purchases on hooks, as all the farmers and 00-oporative freezing companies are being very seriously inconvenienced financially through the long delay in the settlements caused by tho present system of payment." "That it be a recommendation to tho Government that all beef should bo boned up before shipment, in order to savo shipping space, and also to conserve tho bones for use in New Zealand."
