MASTERTON NOTES
"Baßy Week" was brought to a close In Masterton yesterday with a garden party in the grounds of Mm. Archer Hoslcing, and a lecture in the evening by Dr. Ada Paterson, of. Wellington. Mr. Colin M'Kenzie, a To Whiti Bettier, sustained a double fracture of the left Teg through being kicked by a horse. The Wairarapa Aniatour Athetic Club held an evening run on tho park oval on Thursday. The 75yde. and 880 yds. handicaps were won by Connelly, and a mile bicycle race by E. MTilwei. Tho heavy, warm rains of the last week or two has caused such a luxuriant growth of grass in tho Wairarapa that lambs aro suffering greatly from scouring. Tho Jfastorton Bowling Club has been i advised that tho Nowtown green will not be playable on Saturday. _ Consoquently it is not sending its nnkß to tho city. I'
