Reunion of Soldiers' and Sailors' Mothers. Another of tho monthly reunions of tne_ mothers of soldiers and sailors organised by the president and members ol the honorary division of the W N R took placo in tlio Town Hali/ yesterday afternoon, and was as usual very lately attended. Her Excellency tho Count- ' ess of Liverpool was present, and w.as received by tho president (Mrs. W G Xvusseli) and members of tho committee A musical programme had been arranged by Mr.s. Russell, and contributing to it wore Miss Dall and Mr. O'Connor with songs, Mrs. Arthur Myers with a violin solo, Mrs. Le Marchand with pianoforte solos, and two little pupils of Miss Beero'e, Miss Hazel Robinson and Miss .Joan Beere, performed some very pretty dances. The afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of the Khandallali branch of Hie W.N.8., tho members of which curried out their duties most expeditiously. Badges were purchasable during the afternoon, Mrs. Anderson being Hi charge, and several of the mothers availed themselves of the opportunity to secure these tokens of honour. It was much roiretted that Sir .Tamos Carroll , was unable to attend and give an address, nnd those present hope to have that pleasure on another occasion. Mrs Porter, organising national eecreiorv,' Mrs. Corliss .secretary of the active branch) and Miss Sheppard (hon. secretary of the honorary division), as well as several members of the committee, were among those who were present.

Uese garments will bo sent to a hostel where repatriated French women and children are received and cared for until such time as their own homes are made habitable for them again. The New Zealand Government has undertaken'the charge of one of these hostels, of which there are many being established, and Mrs. Luke was asked to help in the matter of clothing. She has already a collection of garments ready to send when opportunity occurs. Very appreciative .letters were received 'by the Mayoress from Mesopotamia, and thanks sent for the food and other parcels. A letter was also sent from one of the transports, signed by many of the 28th (specialists, with thanks, for gifts of various kinds, lemons, having been of much comfort, as many of the men had suffered considerably from sea-sickness.

Street Day on November 30, the Catholic Knitting Guild is arranging- its Ked Cross Shop day for Tuesday, November 27, three days earlier than was originally fixed. Those who have offered help for this day will kindly note the change. The guild has been and is working very 'hard for a successful Red Cross day, and the change should bring an added interest, as it is dono with

the earnest desire that no other patriotic effort should he hold on the Citizens' Gift Day. Mrs. O'Sullivan has made a large sum with her autograph New Zealand flng. The idea is a popular one, and should be an interesting souvenir when finished. The monoy made by it will go to the Catholic Knitting Guild Shop Bay.

The forlnightly meeting of Hie Wellington South Nursing Division was held in the lNewtown Library on Tuesday evening. A good night's work was put in under the supervision of three members of the Tramway Division, with Mr. Tucker in charge.

The late Mrs. John Vile, of Pahiatua, whose death was announced early in the week, was born in Somerset,. England. She had been confined to her be,d for a considerable period, but contracted broncl.'ilis a few days ago, and passed peacefully away. Tho deceased's husband, who died fifteen years ago, owned the Admiral Run at Gladstone (Wairarapa) for a period. He afterwards resided at Clarcvillc and Masterton, and the family went !o Paliiaf.ua about twenty years ago. The late Mrs. Vile was present at the coronation of the late Queen Victoria, and lived under five sovereigns. She retained her mental faculties to (lie last, and her eyesight was so good that yhe never wore glasses. She leaves a family of tlii'Cß eons ami ono daughter. The sons aro Messrs. W. Sailors' Friend Society. Another of the bright evenings for seafarers wee arranged by Hiss Myiia Gawler at the Sailors' Friend • Society on Wednesday evening. Mr. Mooro "(miseioner) gavo some present-day facts regarding the teinpevanco question, and pledges, followed. Tho performers were: Tlio Misses M. Gawler, Iris Trim, and Messrs. Culvcrwell, Colin Trim, nnd Gaskin. Miss GawJer was at the piano. There has been a big demand on the boot store recently, and Mr. Moore asks for a further supply from well-wishers.

The wedding took place in St. Mary's Church, New Plymouth, on Tuesday, of Mr. Eric Baghott Eller'm, onlv 6on of Mr. and Mrs. B. .T. Bllerra, of New Plymouth, to Miss Louisa Frances Bawson. fourth daughter of Mrs. Rawson, Folkestone, Kent (England). Tho Rev. JF. G. Harvio performed tho ceremony. Hies C. M. Anderson attended tho bride, who was given away by' Mr. F. S. Boberlson, and the best man was Sergeant-Major H. Collier, who saw service on Gallipoli. The bridegroom was a member of the Second Reinforcements, and served ou Gallipoli. It was there that ho was wounded and subsequently invalided to England, where ho met his bride.

Mrs.. Whitakor (Palmerston North) is visiting Napier, also Mrs. Putnam.

Mrs. T. W. Stringer left Wellington for Chrietchurch earlier in the week.

Nurse A. E. Campbell and Nur6e Warboys, who have both been connected with the Military Hospital at Walton-on-Thames for some time, returned recently to the Dominion. ,
