ACCOUNTANT SHOOTS HIMSELF
WORRIED OVER ILL-HEALTH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, October 31. Alfred James Lennon, accountant to the firm of Borthwiok and Sons, was Run" dead in his office this morning. Death was tho result of a revolver shot in i7io temple. At the inquest, C. S. Harper, manager of 'Jilomas Borthwiok and Sons, moat exporters, said Lennon was employed as accountant at the Waitara Freezing Works. He came to Christchurch three weeks ago for the purpose of having hie books audited, as was done every year. His health worried Mm, and ho took a despondent view of everything, but never mentioned suicide. During the last week ho had been reprimanded regarding r me work, but he seemed to get ovor it. lesterday he was normal. "It might bo inferred," said Mr. Harper, "that being down on his annual audit thero was somo irregularity in his books. There is not. Wβ, have got no Sa^nis^uTSoS £r not in any way a confession.' The Coroner returned a verdict that Lennon etiot himself while temporarily of unsound mind. , ~ Deceased was GO years of age, and Ins wife resides at Now Plymouth.
