A l'rench ofheial communique states:—An attack .in Belgium at 5.15 this morning was completely successful. Tho French on both sides of the Ypreapixmndo Boad carried all the enemy's positions on a front of .four kilometres i'2i miles) to an'average depth of two kilometres (a mile and a quarter). Despits stubborn resistance we reached the western border of the Houthulst Forest and carried the villages of Vordreudosmie, Ashoot, Merkon, and Kippe, with ( numorous solidly-fortified farms. _ The enemy suffered tho heaviest, losses. Irench official communique states:—"We have continued to make progress m Belgium. On our left, in the Peninsula of Luighem. we. eaptured some small islands and took 200 prisoners."—Ans.-N-Z. Sir Douglas Haijr reports:—"We improved our positions'slightly during the nighttime in the neighbourhood of the Ypres-Eoulers railway. The Belgians oh Friday night juado a successful raid northward of Dixmude, and yesterday, jointly with the ffrench, crossed the inundations and oocupied the Morckj Poninsula. in the neighbourhood of Yljfhvezsn!"—AuiS.-N.Z. A German official report states:—"The enemy re-attacked south-west of Etouthulst Wood, gaining no greater advapta?o than before. Ihe Admiralty reports :—"Our Naval air service on Friday night bombed Lichtervelde and tho railway junction, securing direot hits and'causing a heavy explosion. They also bombed Thourout railway junction and Cortemarck junction, explosions being observed. Bombing attacks on Saturday were made, on the Sparappelhoek and Engel aerodromes, and the Ostend-Thonrout railway. Two pf tho enemy's machines were brought down. All ours returned safely."—Aus.-N.Z.
