REPUBLICAN CONVENTION IN DUBLIN ANTI=ENGLISH RESOLUTIONS REBELLION PLOT FRUSTRATED London, October 26. A Sinn Fein Convention was held at the Mansion House in Dublin. Tie dolegates totalled 6700, including nmny young priests. The convention unanimously adopted a provisional constitution creating an independent Irish Republic, and 1 plodged tho meeting to make use of any and every means to render .England's power impotent. The conference also passed a resoluc tion that Ireland shall present a claim for restitution and reparation from England at the Peace- Convention, It also recommended that Irish trade unions should sever their affiliation, to English unions.
The Countess Markievicz's opposition to the election of Professor John MacNeil (who was chairman of the Council of the Irish Volunteers) to the executive caused a scene. The Countess declared that hs had spoilt the Easter rebellion plans. Mrs. Clarke, a widow of an executed rebel, also condemned MacNeil, amid excitement, but his election was carried — Aus.-N.Z.
