C. Macdouald asked permission to remove a workshop from Education Reserve, Section 8, J&augasvcfei. 'IV/uship (1 rood).—Granted. F. li. Harrison asked permission to let ten acres of his Section 9. The- ranger reported as to the proposed exchange of Waterfall School mtc tpart Sections 22 and 48, Tirauraea. 1 acre 2 roods 15.8 perches) for Grown Lands fecction 23a, Tiraumea Settlement. 12 acres 14 perches-Thin was approved. S. H. Andrew applied to surrender Section 2, Block XV, Rctaruke. 1261 acres. —Surrender accepted. J. J. Fisher applied to surrender Section 1. Block X, Hctarmkc, 393 acres, but, afterwards withdrew surrender, and asked for exemption for twelve months-It was resolved to exempt him from conditions of his lease for a period of twelvo months. A. C. If. Sicely inquired whether he would be permitted to let the grazing of Section 8, Putorino Settlement, for a period of about eight months. It was resolved to advise him tha: there was no objection to his doing so en the usual conditions, provided that he first had his section ring-fenced. /With regard to the erection of a stab fence, this wajs a matter for arrangement with his neighbours, but the board was agreeable. 11 F. Christian-Johnson applied to emrender his interest in Section 9. Futerino Settlement, 68 acres 2 roods.-It was resolved to accept surrender, and to allot the section to A. H. Ruff. Application was made by Mr. .W. H. Cressy on behalf of remdents in the vicinity of Section 5. Block VII.. Makotuku. 7 acres, to have this section set aside as a school site.—lt was resolved to rescind the hoard's resolution or March 25. 1917, with regard to ofterme it to the adjoining owner, and to recommend that it bo set aside as a school site. I The ranger's report was received on forfeited Section 66, Jfanunui V.S. 1 acre 12 pcrchcs.-It was resolved to rcoffcr it as a village homestead on renewable i lease at a capital value of £40. weighted with £2 for improvements. Wallace's permit to occupy as on .Tune 30, 1917, and to srant a. permit to Mr. O. Russell to occupy from year to year from July 1. 1917. at a rent of £1 per annum, Bubjcct to. the usual conditions and to conservation of small clump of bush along road frontage. A report was received l>om the ranger on Section 139, Apiti Township. 1 acre, the loaso of which will expire on Prcrmncr 31, 1917.—1t was rciolvcd lo grant the piWnt, tenant a permit to occupy from vcar to vcar from January 1. 1918. under Section 27 of the Pubjic Reserves Act. 1908, at, a rent, of £1 3s. per annum, subject to the. usual conditions. A report, was received from the ranger on Section 61, Block XIV. Ohinowairua S D 43 acres, lease, of which will expire on December 31, 1917.-H was resolved to grant the present tenant a, license, to occupy for a term of seven years from January 1, 1918. under Section 507 of Ihe Land Act, 1908. at a rent of £15 per anjniui. subject to the conditions imposed by present licence. ... A report was received from the ranger on Section 52. Block XI. Apiti 8.D., 66 acres, the Icaso of which will expire on December 31. 1917.—1t was resolved to grant the present tenant, a permit to occupy from year to year, from January 1. 1918. under Section 27 of the Public Reserves Act. 1908. at. a rent of £21 per annum, subject to the usual conditions. A report was received from the ranger on Section 107, Block XIV. Apiti 5.D...18 acres 2 roods, lease of which will exnirc on December 31, 1917. —It was resolved lo grant tho present, tenant a licence- to occupv from vcar to year from January 1. 1918, under Section 27 or trjo Public Reserves Act, 1908, at a- rent of .£7 per annum, subject to tho usual conditions. An application was received from Mr. A. (Juinlan for, dead timber on Sections 41, 45. and 46. Blocks X and. XL Ongo S.D.. and it was resolved to decline it. as it was not deemed expedient to dispose of this timber at present. , The Commissioner reported the aeq'irisition by the Crown of Subdivisions 2 B 1. 2 B 2, 5b No. 1, and 24a of Maim* >To. 107. comprising about 60 acres I rood 37 perches. With regard to an offer made by the present lessees to sell luh leasehold interest to the ■ Crown, il was resolved to recommend that the offer he declined, and to collect from the urescnt le«scc a proportionate share of the rent payable under his lease commencing from dates of requisition by the Crown of the subdivisions referred to. The Tongariro Timber Company applied lo purchase or lease the following Crown lands— t"n". sections between proposed railway line and Totika Road, 22 acres; forfeited Sections 44 and 45, Block VT. Hunua. 10 acres 3 roods 37 perches: Crown land. Block VI. Hunua, between old rifle range and Totika Road, 103 acres, and Sections 20-39, 61-65, 67-70. Kakaln Township— U was resolved to adjourn consideration for the ranger's report.
