PLUMBERS AND GASFITTERS' AWARD
By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, October 2C. The Arbitration Court award in tho plumbers- and gasfitters* dispute fixes the minimum wage for registered men at Is. Gd. an hour, all other journeymen Is. sd. an hour, with a war bonus of 2d. an hour.
Mr. M'Gullough disagrees with tho decision not to give a permanent increase in wages to competent plumbers and gaslitters who failed lo register under tho Plumbers' Registration Act. Ho thinks as tho trado is highly skilled the minimum raio for journeymen, after a six years' apprenticeship, should be at least 15..6(1. Un hour. Ho also records his disappointment at the Court's refusal to grant apprentices time off during working hours to attend tho technical college.
