STRIKES AND STRICTURES
Sir,—As an old Australian and an admirer for the past 20 year* of Miss I'lorence Young's pleasing voice, I much regretted reading that lady's strictures on Miss Adehv Punkhurst in commenting on tho Australian strike in to-day's Dominion. It is just another exemplification of the old saying: "How these women love one another!" Miss Florence Young's reference to Miss Pankhurst getting married "to a seaman or fireman or something" does not, to my mind, 6ound very generous—perhaps she did not intend it to be—but the fact that Miss Pankhurst did marry might not appeal to tho finer feelings even of such a stern critic of- human failings as Miss Florence Young. As an advertisement for the R.C.O. Co.. Miss Florence Young's remarks just about fill the bill, but I cannot see anything to admire in her ungenerous, though "funny," comments on the efforts, misguided or otherwise, of one who has devoted so many years in trying to raise her sex as Miss Adda Pankhurst has done.—l am, etc , S.TDNJH' H, WTCKTTCSON. Sydney, N.SAV. Wellington, October 26.
