THE UNITARIAN CHURCH AND ENLISTMENT
Sir,—l see that Mr, Isitt, in his newK acqmrod pro-Catholic zealotry, woidd discredit Unitarians and Unitarianism by roi'erenco to tho statistics published in New Zealand under the head of "'Religion of Soldiers." It appears that the unitarians have sent 2.9G per cent, of their number, while tho Catholics have sent 6.2 of their number to fight for us! T'ho real explanation of tho small number of Unitarians who havo enlisted is that tho Unitarian Church is a Church of adults, and of developed minds. Tho vast majority of its members are elderly or middle-aged people who have, theologically, liived-ofi: from the ' other Churches. As a matter of faot, I beliovo, I am right in fitating that not a single man, physically lit and of military age, belonging to the Wellington Unitarian Church has failed to respond, voluntarily, to his country's call, wfiilo exemption has been claimed for neither minister nor members of the Church.—l am, etc, UNITARIAN. October 2G.
