The Monowai will arrive here early this morning from northern ports, and will tonight take up the Maori's running in the Wellinston-Lyttelton ferry servicc, sailing at 7.45 p'm. from the Queen's Wharf. THE TAR AVER A. The Tarawora will leave Duncdin to-day for Oamaru, TimM-u, and Wellington, arriving here on Snnt-jy. On Monday the vessel will sail for Lyttelton, and from that port will proceed to Gisborno . and Auckland, omitting to call at Napier. Tho vessel will not take Lyttelton cargo, hut this will be taken by the Monowai, sailing on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. The Breeze is due to-day from Lyttelton, and will sail to-morrow for Duncdin. Timaru. and Lyttelton. The Ngatoro left Limestone Island at 10 a.m. yesterday for Napier and Wellington. She is due hero on Runday. and. will sail on Monday for Wanganui and New Plymouth. The Oalm is due on Sunday from Lyttelton, and will sail on Monday for Wanganui, returning to Wellington on Wednesday and sailing tho Pamo day for Blufl, Dunedia, Oamaru, and Timarn.

| The Kaiuona. will pail from Westport today for Wellington, leaving here to-mor-row night direct for Auckland. Owing to the lateness of the vessel's departure from the coast port sho will not receive cargo at Wellington. The lnvercargill will receive further cargo for Wanganui Lhis morning, and sail at 2 p.m.

The Rakanoa will leave Auckland on .Saturday with cargo for Wellington. It is probable that the vessel will go to West-port from this port. Tho Ngukuta is expcctod to arrive here about Wednesday from Greymouth. The Ngahcre has been diverted to Lytteltou, and will now not call here. The shortage oi' shipping at Greymouth is reported to be having a most depressing influence on the timber industry. One mill has 1,000,000 ft. on the skids awaiting shipment, two or three have already closed down, and there is a likelihood of others following suit, as there appears no immediate prospects of relief of the stagnation. The Sydney "Shipping List" says that an announcement from the Coal Board states that no coal must he supplied to oversea or interstate vessels at Sydney, Newcastle, Catherine Hill Bay. or Southern jetties except with the authority of the board. All applications for coal for oversea vessels must be addressed to the chairman of the Overseas Central Committee, Sydney, and applications concerning interstate vessels to the Coal Board, Melbourne. This will not affect the bunkering or coal supplies ttf steamers trading within the limits of New South Wales. The work of breaking up the hull of tho derelict steamer Opouri inside the Greymouth bar is still proceeding. About 100 ft. of the hull of the vessel still remain to bo broken up.

The Baden Powell, which sailed for Lyttclton last night, is due back on Sunday, and will sail on Monday for Wanganui. • The Huia will get away for New Plymouth this morning, and on her return will again load foi\the same port, sailing on Monday.

Chapman* a cadet from the Union training vessel Aparima, has passed his examination for a second mates certificate. and has joined one of the Union Company's steamers as third officer. Captain M'lndoe, secretary of tho Merchant Service Guild, returned yesterday from Dunedin where he has been conferring with the Union Company with respect to war bonuses for the company's officers. The Corinna yesterday delayed at Picton by rain. Sho is," however, due here to-day, and an endeavour will be made to fltspafclT'ircr to-night for Picton and Onehuuga.
