ANxNUAL .MTSETIi\(.;. ' The Wellington.' Philosophical Society, held its annual meeting in too Dominion Museum last evening, ' A lengthy- report dealing chieliy witli the meetings held during .the-year was submitted. The report of the Hamilton Memorial Committee stated that a monolith of Kairuru marble- had been erected over the grnvo of Mr. Augustus Hamilton at Bussell, Bay of Islands, and that a balance of i:3B odd remained on hand. The committee recommended tlis.t thifi , amount be invested by the NVmv Zealand Institute, and that each year one-half of tho interest bo added to the principal, autl the other half be devoted to a. prize to be known as tho Hamilton Prize. The council did not consider that it was desirable to take any steps this year to celebrate its jubilee, which falls on November 13. Receipts for the year from subscriptions and interest amounted to =£177 6s. 7d., and tho payments to ,£136 3?. 9d., leaving a balance of £il 12s. 10d. of the general fund. The amount in the latter fund now available for genoral purposee was XW 18s. lid.

Tho report stated that since the ananal meeting of 1916, twelve raemhers had been ejected and one member had become a life member' under Rule 2G. Three members had died—one iu action at ths front. Tho roll now stood at a total of 178 members, twenty-threo of whom were with the Forces. Extensive reference was mado in tho report to the scientific work of. the late Mr. Alexander M'jiay, a former member of the society. Tho report was adopted.
