"WASHING-UP" BILL
WELLINGTON CLAUSES. ■ The Reserves and Other Lands Disposal and Publie Bodies Empowering Bill, introduced in the House of Eepreeentatives last evening, is a measure of 6eventy-eix pages and one hundred and twenty-six clauses. It is the annual "Washing-up Bill," and, as usual, it contains a very wide range of subjects. The Government is authorised to issue licenses for the removal of 6ulphur from tourist and health resort reserves. Increased powers are given to the Mokau Harbour Board for the improvement of the navigation of the Mokau Elver. Lot 1 pf Section 77, TTadeslown, is vested in the «ity of Wellington. Certain agreements with respaet to Ihe Highland Park Estate are validated as between certain persons and the city of Wellington, A clause empowers the Sandon Park Trustees to acquire and maintain, the Sandon_ Public Hall. Certain alterations are authorised in th'o boundaries of the Borough of Shannon. Provision is made for tSie annulment of the compulsory dedication for street widening of land "at Hamilton Pnaad tnd Busaco Eoad, Kilbimie. A clause legalises and facilitates tho construction of a second elip at Evans B,iy._ Wellington. The clause, in effect, legalises the agreement already made by Ih'a City Council, the Harbour Board, and the Patent Slip Company. The Nelson A. and P. Association is authorised to mortgage the Bichmond Show Ground. Clause 79 vests In tho Public trustee certain property held by trustees in trust for the religious purposes of the German Protestant inhabitants of Canterbury.
