STIRRING SPEECH BY MR. LLOYD GEORGE
JUNKERS MUST BE CRUSHED ZEPPELIN FIASCO ONLY THREE RETURN ANOTHER MOVE ON THE WESTERN FRONT Mr. Lloyd George, in a stirring speech, inaugurating tho food cconomy campaign in Britain, frankly faces the outlook in the political and military situation, and declares that there is no sign of the kind of peace that tho Allies desire for posterity and civilisation—a durable peace, conveying upon all nations the blessings of freedom. The enemy, he says, must, if necessary, bo beaten to tho ground 'and oru'shed, and tho tyranny of arms abolished for over. The speakers hopes are in tho fortunes of 1918. They would have bean realised in 1917, ho says, had Russia maintained hor military efficiency. On the Western front, ths combined activities of the British and French armies in Flanders have resulted in fresh gains of ground. The Allies' air offensive is pationtly developing and extending most effectively, and the Gorman losses are steadily being maintained. Tho last Zeppelin raid was, as could bo seen from yesterday's dispatches, a comploto failure—a fiasco, in fact. Only three of tho twelvo raiders are known to havo reached Germany.
