PAHIATUA METHODIST CIRCUIT
The quarterly meeting of. the' Methodist Circuit was--held. in. the Pahiatua Church on Wednesday afternoon. The Bev. Mr. Cottom presided. It was resolved to forward a letter of thanks to Afr. G. H. Smith, M.P., for his efforts on the B o'clock closing question. The balance-sheet showed a debit on the quarter due largely to the many wet Sundays, but it is confidently expected that the annual Gift Sunday appeal, on November 18, will result in a good credit for tho current quarter. Very appreciative mention was made of the ministrations of the lev. Mr. Cottom, who was unanimously invited to remain a third year in the district, and ho agreed, subject to endorsement by Conference. Messrs. A. .T. Patchett and J. .T. Boagey -n-ero elected representatives to bynod. Mrs. Groves and Mrs. Sinclair being substitute representatives. It was agTeed, in responso to a request from settlers, to hold monthly services at Mangamairo, also to send letters of appreciation to Maior Clifton and family, and to Bev. ,T. H. Ha slam and Miss Priest. Sympathy -was expressed with a number ot members and friends of the church who are ill, or who have sustained bereavement A suitable message is to be sent to" Comoro! Eric Sowvy upon his return from the fighting line. The minister deputed to arrange for cor^l ",,^® la services during this quarter. Afternoon tea was provided the meeting Vtv Mrs. Cottom and Mrs. O. Johnson, who were accorded ft heatty vote of thanks.
