SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
' Desnile the gale yesterday, the Sailors' Friend Society arranged a picnic for the men From an early hour till Into at night the enjoyment went on, t'j'ljk. to the kindness of the many interested. The snorts were entered into with much '-est, prizes going to Messrs. Richardson, Lowings, Burjiatead, Robinson, Elder, Tasnor, Edwards, Cliawnes, Mason, and Airs Kebbel. Lunch, tea, and fiuppci were provided by the kindness of friends °Vt' 1 an enthusiastic audience was entertained by an excellent concert propramme. The performers were all apnlauded and there were numerous recalls The concert opened with \P lan °- tm'te solo bv Mr. Elder, and. Mr. F. Fee's song, "When the War is Over, Mother Dear," appealed to all with mora than usual force. Both original and entertaining were Mr. Dowder's impersonations! and were a iitt ng proude to ii, Kninsays songs, which littrauj; bio'ught down the house. A " u "^ er ° r coniuring tricks by Mr. Tjiardet eeedingly clever, and quite mysnhed the onlookers! Mr. Elder was at the piano. Jlv. Liardet responded to the of thanks tendered to nil who had made the day so liappy for the men.
