The Sank of England discount rate was on January 2. 1914, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to 4 per cent., and on January 28 3 oer cent. On July 30 tbe rate vrae raised to 4 per cent., and on July 31 it was raieed tc i per cent., and on August 1 it nae further advanced to 10 per cent.
