HUMOUR A LA CARTE
AN AMUSING SATIRE. Almost everyone is familiar with the field service card which contains certain sterotyped phrases. The soldier deletes those which are not applicable to his circumstances and allows to remain those which describe his condition at the time of sending. The official phraseology of y.fe cards has been cleverly satirised, and the idea underlying it has been amplified, evidently by 'a soldier who knows something of service conditions, in a "letter form," presumably to bo issued to husbands when writing to their wives. By crossing out the words in brackets, which aro not wanted, a connected statement is obtained. A copy of this "letter form" came into the hands of the Australian Minister for Befenco {Senator Pearcc). who was greatly amused at the sl-fit. It reads ns follow:— In tho Reid. , 1917.
