DOCTOR DIES WHILE AT AN OPERATION
Dr William Boake, of GlenferriaEoad, Hawthorn, Melbourne, died suddenly oa September 26 while eugaged with Dr. William Begg in au operation on a child for poet-nasal growth. Dr. Begg aiSministered tlie anneathetie, and all went well for some time. The condition of the the child under the anaesthetic, however, began to cause anxiety. Efforts to restore the child to consciousness were, however, eventually rewarded. Hardly had tho patierj shown signs of animation than Dr. Bonke fell forward across the operating table. Dr. BeKg turned Dr.- Boake's face aside, and saw that he was dead. The child was soon afterwards in full possession of her faculties. Dr. Boake, who was 57 years of age, was one of tho most respected members of the medical profession in Victoria. He was a native of Dublin, where ho graduated, and liad been practising in Victoria for over 30 years, beins for the last 18 years at Hawthorn, where he had a, very large practice. He had beer, suffering for some time from an internal complaint, and it is considered that tiis troublo led to heart failure, the cause of death.
