SHEARERS AND MILITARY SERVICE
The question of whether shearers are essentinl was before the Third Military Service Beard yesterday, when an appeal was made on bebalf of a shearer. ' After 'hearing Mr. Grayndlor (secretary of Vhe Shearers' Union) the members of the board expressed dissatisfaction, at tho evidence placed before them. The opinion .was. expressed that the most remarkable aspect of tho wholo matter was that none of the sheepowners had stated that shearers were essential.. . The National •Efficiency Board- had recommended' that shearers" should not be exempted, arid tho Minister of Agriculture had made no definite pronouncement- .on tho subject. Tho case was adjourned for. two weeks, when tho whole of the sine die cases will bo reconsidered. "..
