WESLEY CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL
A tea, public meeting, and cliildren's concert was held .in the Wesley Church, Tanimiki .Street, lust evening in. conueo'tiqn with tho.7(ith anniversary, which .was celebrated by special services on Sunday last. The Hev. J. G.. Chapman presided over a good attendance. _ The superintendent, Mr. C. fl. Barratt, presented the annual report and bal-auce-shoet. He stated tliat there was a credit balance on the year's' operations of jEi2 odd. This was the smallest they had'had for some time past. The attendance statistics for the year just ended compared favourably with those or previous, years, but the teachers considered that there was still room for improvement. Parents who were members of tho church ehould do their bost to see that the children attended the school every Sunday. The resignation of several teachers was. recorded, and the report contained an appreciation of their services There wero 112 names on the roll in the primary and beginners' department ami 21 teachers and helpers, llie number on tho cradle roll was at present 83. From tho department in question collections amounting to .£l3 Is. wl. had been taken up for the support ot two Indian orphans, while the s-chool as a wholo had given SB Is. 9d. to the Home and Foreign missions. In addition, the children had forgone their isnuuiil picnic in order to devote the sum usually expended upon that outing to tho assistanco of the children of Belgium. Ihe total number of ex-members of thoschdol who' were on active service was 87. One, Sergeant 11. B. Grave, who had occupied: tho position of secretary for some time, had been awarded Uiu Military Medal. : Tho following appointments wero made for the cnsuiii)! your:—Superintendent,■ Mr. C. H.
