Mr. ,' notice aim, sating in Uanco today, huard an application of John M'liiiuyhlin, carrier, ui Wuimanijui'oa, lur a writ of mandamus to compel Thomas Hutchison, S.M., and members of tho Uuller Liconsiui; Commiuee lo hear and determine his application for a publican's licenco in respect of premises known as the I'ost Office Hotel, Wamangaroa. The application was granted. His Honour held that as the application camo before the committee at iu annual meeting and was adjoiu-ned to the quarterly meeting by the committee on its own motion, it nuiet be treated as having been adjourned to the adjourned annual meeting, and the meeting of September 12 was a continuation of '.he annual meeting. ».
Defendants were not present or represented at tho Court. Plaintiff's application was before the committee at its annual meeting on June 5, but was adjourned by tho committee to permit of certain repairs being effected to the premises. When Hip. application was renewed at the quarterly meeting Iho commitl.es hold that it had no jurisdiction to grant the licence.
