THE WAR LOAN DETAILS OF THE COUNTRY'S ./, BORROWING STATEMENT BY FINANCE MINISTER The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Council considered tho Discharged Soldiers Settlement Bill in Committee. The Hon. J. T. Paul said that the proposal to set apart land for soldieis' dwellings could bo extended considerably with advantage. He suggested that land should bo set apart for soldiers' settlements in the neighbourhood of freezing works and other places where seasonal occupation vras nvailable. Tho Bill was put through Committee, read, a third time, and passed. The Council rose at 3.5 p.m.
