DEFENDANT NEWSPAPERS APOLOGISE. (Rec. October 17, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 16. In the High. Court the libel actions by Mr. Lloyd George against the Exchange Telegraph Company, ster Gazette," and the "Star" were 6et-, tied, the defendants apologising and paying the costs. The case arose out of the publication of a paragraph issued by the Exchange Company, alleging that jjtr. Lloyd George left Downing Street for the country when it was known that raiders were approaching. The plaintiff contended that this implied personal cowardice, and explained that he had left London with military and naval leaders to attend a conference with the French war chiefs. All tho defendants disclaimed that any imputation ,was mtended.—Reutor.
