The lull on the Western front continues. Later dispatches from the Anzac lines givo further accounts of the stern ordeal the New Zealandors and Australians had to faco. Three distinguished senior officers, who are not named, paid, tho supremo sacrifice in braving the onemy'e fire in order to reconnoitre the position. A great Allied Council o£ War is being held at Paris to discus various matters pertinent to a unification of aims, and also thel qnestions of winter campaigns on certain fronts. The German offensive in tho Baltic continues to develop, in spito of stubborn resistance by the Buseian naval men, who are fighting with excellent spirit and determination. Ships hove been sunk on both sides. Tho linns are actively co-operating with the Germans, who are landing war supplies. Considerable activity prevails on the Allied front in the Balkans. The spirit of mutiny, as disclosed in tho recent occurrences at WilhelmShaven, has spread to tho Austrian fleet, where, it is 6tated, scenes of terror and bloodshed havo been witnessed. Tho trouble there is largely the same as that which brought the German outbreak to a head—bad food and tyrannical discipline. Austrian sailors were in open conflict with the men of the Gc-rnip. TJ-boat flotilla at Pola, and some) of the latter were killed. The situation is said to bo very threatening.
