Full arrangements have been made for a complete canvas of tho city on; Thursday in connection with the appeal. Stalls are allot ted in all parts of the city for the sale of flowers, badges, eto. uue commercial travellers, with their usual originality, are organising what is . expected to. be a huge money-maker. A concert loriy will parade the city, and will be in (•Tmrgo of tho following:—Paul Stanhope Kev& Company, by permission ot IftasTS. Fuller, Ltd; the English Pieirots, by permission of Messrs. Will IU J, ( } Rob Thomas, and tho - Charlie s Aunt nub. Each of these companies promises to sunnlv excellent programmes for the entertainment of the public.. It is to be hopi'd the public will subscribe Überttlly to sliow their appreciation of the eiioiU nf tfie performers. ~ , . ' The commercial travellers have thougnt of a novelty that should be an attraction, besides drawing a substantial sura from the pockets of the public. The novelty is th A "weighing-in" scales, lent by tho Wellington Racing Club, will be placed on a lorry, which, during the day, be stationed at various corners of the city streets. On one side of the scalfe will be a returned soldier, and on the other side a receptaclfe strong enough to hold a heavy weighty the. public are nßked •to "weigh down tho soldier with money. Ladies with bags will be collectin« on the streets, and as the bags aie fitted, their contents will be put on the denies. It is hoped there will bo a good response to the appeal, and that tlis soldier will be weighed down several times. GRAND TORCHLIGHT PROCESSION. In connection with to-morrow's effort a Qi-nud torchlight procession will take place in tho evening. The procession, which is to leave the Government Buildnt 7.30 p.m., will include five blinds, and will embrace particularly fane, displays from the Petone Railway Workshops and other trade institutions. Ihe preparations that have been made give promise of a fine carnival spirit, which un this occasion must bo related to the spirit of giving to achieve the desired result. .
