HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT
The Department of Agriculture, Industies, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, October 13,-from tho High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note.—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot.) Meat.—Home-killed mutton and beef are in fair supply. There are small supplies of Dutch mutton and .beef, chilled, at the'market during this week selling at comparatively low prices owing to (mutilated word here). Mutton, BSd. and Hid.; beef, very low quality, 6d. All descriptions of frozen meat aro in small supply. New Zealand mutton, per lb., 8 7-Sd.; ewe mutton, Sid.; Argontine mutton, 11 3-Bd.; New Zealand lamb, 10d.; Argentine lamb, lid.; Patagonian, lOd. Argentine chilled beef hinds lljd. fores 9d. Butter.—Butter is very scarce. No official quotations with the exception of Paris, 2305. lo 2355.;' Argentine, 2065.; maximum prices remain unchanged, with the exception of Irish creamery, 2245. for bulk, and-rising as high as 242 a. Bd. for half-pound packets. Cheese.—Market continues firm. New Zealand, States Flats, and Australian, at Government price. English cheddar, 1375. ' . Hemp.—Market remains as last reported.' New Zealand, little business doing on account of freight difficulty. Manila output for two weeks ending Ootober 6, 40,000 bales. . Wheat.—Market steady at previous quotations. . Oats—Spot market is steady at oflicial quotations.
