THE TRUE BRITISH WAY
HOW A BRITISH OFFICER DRESSED DOWN RED CROSS VIOLATORS. (Rec. October 15, 8.40 p.m.) London, October 14. Mr. H. Perry Robinson, the "Times" correspondent, again confirming. the reports of recent German violations of the Red Cross. Bays:—ln some ■units the proportion of the casnalties to stretcherbearers exceeds thosa of the infantry. This is the result of deliberate sniping. Two days ago three out of four members of a etreteher-party were sniped at close range and shot dead. A British officer in a shell-hole near by, seeing the shooting, seized a Red Cross flag, and waving it conspicuously, marched straight up to the enipeTs' hiding-pbfce, and halted a few yards from the German position. The Germans, presumably curious, withheld .their fire, and, speaking in German, tho officer poured out his indignation, pointing out to tho snipers a German stretcher-party that was moving alwut unmolested, The Germans listened in 6ilence. When the officer had finished what he had- to say, he turned back, tossed away the flag, and floundered back into his shell-hole.—"Tho Times."
