FASHIONS FOR MEN. A frivolous writer in the Saturday supplement of the Now Tork "Evening Post" discourses entertainingly upon fashions for men. He writes:—Loung-ing-suits are very plain this year, somewhat narrow-waisted, buttoned up to tho throat, with brass buttons mouogrammed "U.S.A." Tho prevailing colours are that buff known as khaki, or blue of, the Navy variety, in which event tho blouse, full and low-cut at the neck, and bell-shaped trousers iiro de vigueur. With this latter costume goes a flat sailor hat of blue, or a round white knock-about with narrow rim turned up becomingly. Very decorative with this suit are a cartridge belt and pistols in deep leather mountings. With liie khaki, on the other hand, go leather or cloth leggings of the kluuci colour, and a broad tan sombrero with a red, yellow, or blue or buff cord, depending upon special circumstances. This very natty outfit does not carry any weapons in public hero as yet, although in France a rifle with bayonet fixed ami a belt with hand-grenades pendant have become all the style. , No decorations are ;is yet being worn to any great extent. In the course of time, these may contribute considerably to the elegance of young gentlemen dressed comme. il faut. The extremists—there are always such who attain the heights 6f fashion—wear stripes upon their sleeves, or even bars on their shoulders None but men in tho later thirties, who need something; to oll'set the onset of embonpoint, sitould, however, bo advised to place stars on their shoulderstraps. Needles-; to say, young mm not going in for the latest fashions cannot hope to enjoy the same popularity with the fair sex as those who do. Naturally, expense does not figure with our stylish young Adonises; but, strange to say, the costumes described readily are the cheapest of any on the market, so that there is very little excuse for any one who does, not get one. There are numerous outfitters' establishments throughout (he city where the young man can go and have his measure taken, and, if found of the proper, svelt fifnire, can get his 6uit for nothing. This will be for those under thirty. For men thirty and upwards there aTo special novelty shops, as in thijir case the question of a good fit presents more difficulties. A great many enterprising youths, more than one would be led to suppose, are not allowing this opportunity to escape them. Our streets and places of amusement have assumed a distinctly khaki and blue tone, as a consequence.
