RETURNED SOLDIERS
! A WARM WELCOME
A draft of returned soldiers fresh from the fighting front, via tho hospitals ol England arrived on Saturday. The mer wero mot by a huge orowd of relatives anc friends, who gave them a very cordia' welcome home. Tho Mayor ("Mr. ,J. P Luko) was present to extend a friendlj hand to all and sundry,_ and Mrs. I,uk( and a -willing lmnd of ladies dispensed liol toa and comforts in the shed alongaid( the berth. Some members of the Motoi Reserve also turned lip, and under Cap tain W. Pryor helped to transport th< more needy soldiers to the city. Tht Y.M.C.A. was represented by llessrs. A H. Sansum and P. Battcy. There wcr< 278 men altogether in the draft, include< in which were about 100 men for Well ington, and 70 for Auckland (who left bj train shortly after noon). Tho majority of the men looked exceedingly well ir general 'health, the voyage having im mensely benefited ovcry member of thi draft. THE NOMINAL ROLL.
