MR. HUGHES BEPLTES TO CRITICISMS. Melbourne, October 13. Mr. W. M. Hughes, the Federal Prime Minister, replying to Opposition charges that the Government bad caused the increased cost of living, 6tatcd that the investigation of the Inter-State Commissions had revealed no exploitation. The prices of bread as fixed and of meat were not controlled by any rombino or profiteers either in the supply of stock or amongst the wholesalers or retailers.— Press Association.
