CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND
THE MASQUE BALL. A meeting of the committee which is raising money for the Christinas Gift Fund was held last evening. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided. Mr. A: J. Bloxam reported that ar* rangenients for the masque ball on Octo-. her 2-i were well in hand. There would be posters and fancy dresses, i'nd a, grand march was being arranged. A baud from Trentham Camp would provide the music. Refreshments would be ' provided by the drapers' assistants, and sweets would be sold. Late trams would be put on by the corporation tramway, authorities. The decorations would be done by the window-dressers of various city establishments. The posters and dresses were to be judged by the lady, editors of the three daily papers, m conjunction with Mr. Barry Keesiag. Mr. G. S. Hill reported that help had been promised by the bodies controlling Rugby, cricket, racing, rowing, soccer, hockey, golf, bowls, lawn tenuis, and amateur athletics. The bowlers had decided to hold a tournament from winch it was expected to raise .£3OO. Ihe Federal Club would conduct a billiard tournament. Tl/e Brougham Hill TeiM nis Club had decided to co-operate with the committee. The meeting decided to ask the colleges' of the city to help.
