PROTEST FfiOM MEDICAL ASSOCIATION.

The Canterbury division of the British Medical Association has passed the iollowing resolution.:—"This division urges the council of tho Medical Association to protest against such an important measure as the Social Hygiene Bill being hurried through) Parliament before the people have had time to consider it. This meeting considers the Bill, as drawn up. is pandering to the prurient propensities of the public; also that without compulsory confidential, notification ihe Bill bo of no avail. Further, that tho Public Health Department and the medical profession, instead of a lay board; should have control of these diseases." MEETING OF AVOMEN CONDEMN THE BILL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, October 12. A largely-attended meeting of women to-day carried a resolution protesting against the attempt to re-enact the CD. Act. under the guise of the Social Hygiene Bill. Dr. Blackmore, who was ono of the chief speakers, in tho course of his condemnation of the Bill, remarked I hat no other country in the world suffered so much from hasty and ill-considered legislation- as New Zealand. A further resolution was carried, lo the effect that every facility should be given for free voluntary treatment of sufferers from venereal disease, and urging tho establishment of farm colonies for persons suffering from such disease, also the employment of women police and instruction in moral education.
