THE DOOM OF THE LUSITANIA.
BOMBS WERE PLACED ON BOARD . DID BERNSTORFP KNOW? (Eec, October 13, 1.10 a.m.) . '. New York, October 12. Ilsen, a German lawyer, has informed the police that he has learned that bombs were placed on board the Lueitania on her last voyage. These w.ere timed to explode near the Irish coa6t but the vessel was torpedoed before -the bombs ex- ; ploded. Ilsen says he was in the office of Schimmel, a German lawyer now in Germany, when the Lusitania was torpedoed. Schimmel shouted: a "The fools have ruined my work! The bombs would have'destroyed her!" The United States officials are trying ; to establish the point whether Count j Bernstorff knew of the bombs when lib t published the warning t0 passengers not ' to travel in the Liisitania.—Aus.-N.Z.
